There is no more famous Wine Dog than Maynard Dineen. This true-blue Aussie healer has real pedigree. He worked at Brokenwood before becoming chief Wine Dog at Tower Estate. His exceptional knowledge of the Hunter Valley, marketing guru status and the fact that fame has never gone to his head lead him to be honoured this year as the wine industry’s most valuable identity.

Unfortunately, Maynard’s popularity has become all too time consuming. Puparazzi are barking at his kennel on a daily basis and has prompted the ‘king of cool’ to go into hiding. Rumour has it that he is about to cross the Tasman to the calmer climate of Wanaka, New Zealand.

No wonder this cool recluse is referred by many as the Jack Nicholson of the Wine Dogs world. Hey, come to think of it, we’ve never seen Jack and Maynard together in the same room…

Just like Pharlap, the Finns and Crowe before him, it’s only a matter of time before those Kiwis claim him as their own. We’ll miss you Maynard!
